Carpet Dye Chemicals
FIBER PREP (1 gal. - $26.95) Area of the carpet to be dyed may have alkalinity.
A pH greater than 6 may cause blotches. Fiber Prep is designed to reduce the pH of the face fibers, open
the fibers for dyeing and result in a more even dye job. The chemical is mixed 16 ounces per gallon of hot
water (120 degrees minimum) and sprayed on the wet, clean carpet at the rate of 200 to 300 square feet per gallon
prior to dyeing. Cut pile carpet is sprayed at 200-300 square feet per gallon and level loop at 300-400 square
fee per gallon.
pH STABILIZER (1 gal. - $26.95) This chemical is designed to maintain the pH of the dye bath.
For nylon carpets, add pH Stabilizer at the rate of 2 ounces per gallon of dye bath. (A 10 gallon dye
bath needs 20 ounces of pH Stabilizer.) For wool carpets, add pH Stabilizer at the rate of 8 ounces
per gallon of dye bath. (A 10 gallon dye bath needs 80 ounces of pH Stabilizer.)
PENETRANT (1 gal. - $27.95) Penetrant is you wetter or carrier. The use of the chemical is dependent
upon the thickness or face weight of the fibers. Level loop carpets require as little as 1 or 2 ounces per gallon.
Apartment grade carpets require 2 or 3 ounces per gallon. FHA carpet require 4 ounces per gallon. The
thicker the carpet, the more Penetrant you would have to use in your dye bath. All new dyers should
use Penetrant at the rate of 4 ounces per gallon. As you gain experience, the cut back. In other
words, first you crawl, then you walk, then you run!!! Add Penetrant to hot dye bath.
NAMELESS (1 gal. - $26.95) Nameless is used as a color remover. This chemical was designed to
enable you to correct errors made when you are spot dyeing. It is a heat transfer chemical and will remove color
if you have made the spot too dark.
ANTI-CHLOR (Bleach Neutralizer) (1 gal. - $26.95) Anti-Chlor is a chemical that absorbs
and neutralizes free chlorine. Its only purpose is to kill free chlorine so that the old bleach spot will not eat
out the new dye and reappear. Apply liberally to bleach spot and leave in carpet. Dye over it!
LIQUID WALL SHIELD (1 gal. - $26.95) Spray on walls before dyeing carpet to keep dye off walls. After
dye job, just wipe wall with rag or spray with water to remove any traces of dye. Works great. Saves Time. No need
for regular wall shield.
DYE FIX (1 gal. - $27.00) Dye Fix is a new chemical formula that bonds loose dye to carpet fibers
and fabrics. Eliminates or greatly reduces rub off, fading, and all types of dye migration. Spray on carpet after
dyeing. Use sparingly (1:3 formula).
